My work starts from recording my daily routine: applying make-up, selecting accessories, emotional regulation, etc., through drawing. This exhausting routine is sometimes considered a coping mechanism, and a necessity for negotiating with society. The consumerism and social psychology driving these actions also apply to my works on paper. My observational drawings reflect restrictions imposed by public opinion and conventions, my particular cultural background surrounding women’s sexuality. It also reflects the situation of Asian women in U.S society. I explore and expose these personal topics through self-examination, from my body, to works on paper.
